Geofencing uses the location of the user to adjust the heating, turning it down when the user is away from home and increasing it when the user approaches home again. It helps to reduce energy consumption when nobody is at home.
It is available as part of the Savings Assistant package (formerly called “Comfort & Savings”), as a monthly or annual subscription.
Please remember that the availability depends on the region in which the installation is located.
This feature is available for many of the most popular models of Viessmann gas and oil boilers with traditional radiators as well as ViCare Smart Climate devices but at this moment is not available for Ecotronic devices or heat pumps.
Can I define the distance for Geofencing?
The radius can be defined individually or you can leave the default distance of 5 kilometers.
How is data protection guaranteed with the ViCare app?
The ViCare app does not know the exact location of each person. The only thing that is known, is, whether someone has exceeded the radius of the predefined home zone.
Geofencing: What happens when my mobile phone or my location services are switched off?
If, for example, your battery is empty and your cell phone is switched off and you are away from home, your heating system will remain in the mode in which it was active just before it was switched off.
How can I be sure that the other family members are not left out in the cold when I am away from home?
In addition to geofencing, there is the Family & Friends function. Here you can invite other family members to control the system in the ViCare app. Geofencing only works if everyone participates, i.e. everyone has to register their mobile devices and turn on location tracking.
