If you have a new Viessmann One Base heating system with integrated Wi-Fi, you can download the ViCare app and connect it directly to your heater. The app will guide you step by step through setting up your account. The Vitoconnect communication module is available for older heating systems. This interface securely connects your heating system to the Viessmann Cloud so that you can control it via ViCare using your iOS or Android smartphone or tablet. The product overview with devices that require Vitoconnect can be found here.
The process at a glance:
For Viessmann One Base systems with integrated Wi-Fi module (newer generation)
You can simply pair the system with the ViCare app without having to use external interfaces such as the Vitoconnect or other accessories:
- If you have not already done so, download the ViCare app directly from Google Play or the iOS App Store on your cell phone or tablet and register as a new user under “Create new account”. Follow the instructions in the app. Here you can find more information about creating a new account.
- Scan the QR code on your heat generator. Here you can find out where the code is located on your device. However, you can also register your system manually using the manufacturer data and the ID. To do this, follow the instructions in the app.
- Activate the access point on your device to start the connection process and pair the ViCare app with the device. Please use your device-specific operating instructions for this, which you can also find online here.
- The ViCare app will then guide you through the rest of the connection process to pair your One Base system with your home Wi-Fi network.
- Finally, please follow the further instructions in the app: you will be asked for the location of your system and your personal data and asked to accept the privacy policy and terms of use.
For heating systems with Vitoconnect (older generation)
- Install the Vitoconnect* in a dry and frost-proof location next to your heat generator. Please ensure sufficient proximity to the Wi-Fi signal and to the other connected devices (e.g. thermostats in the individual rooms).
- Then connect the Vitoconnect to the power supply using the plug-in power supply unit and to the heat generator using the Optolink cable.
Note: During initial commissioning, the Vitoconnect access point mode is automatically activated as soon as you plug in the power supply unit. This is indicated by the green LED.
- Access point mode remains active until the Vitoconnect has been commissioned. You do not need to deactivate access point mode manually.
- If you have not already done so, download the ViCare app directly from Google Play or the iOS App Store on your cell phone or tablet and register as a new user under “Create new account”. Follow the instructions in the app. Here you can find more information about creating a new account.
- Scan the QR code on your Vitoconnect (see following exemplary illustration) so that it can be assigned to your account. However, you can also register your system manually using the manufacturer data and the ID.
- Depending on your smartphone's operating system, the Vitoconnect's Wi-Fi is now set up:
- for Android devices: The connection is established automatically.
- for iOS devices: Close the app and open the device settings. Establish the connection to the “Vitoconnect” Wi-Fi manually and paste the WPA2 password automatically copied to the clipboard. You can now switch back to the app.
- Now connect the Vitoconnect to your home network: Select your Wi-Fi network from the list and then enter your Wi-Fi password. After entering the correct password, the LED
at the top of the Vitoconnect should light up white. This process can take up to 5 minutes. This LED indicates the connection to the WLAN network and then lights up white permanently if the system is working.
- Finally, please follow the further instructions in the app: You will be asked for the location of your system and your personal data and asked to accept the data protection and terms of use.
For security reasons, we recommend changing the password for the ViCare app every 6 months.
