To be able to use the Vitoconnect communication module, you must first commission and register it using Plug & Play. You can view a schematic illustration of the entire process here.
The individual steps:
- Connect the Vitoconnect to the heat generator using the Optolink cable included in the scope of delivery and to the power supply using the plug-in power supply unit. You can find video instructions here.
Note: As soon as you plug in the power supply unit during initial commissioning, the Vitoconnect's access point mode is automatically activated, i.e. it sends out its name as an SSID in order to be able to connect to it. This is indicated by the green LED . Access point mode remains active until the Vitoconnect has been commissioned. You do not need to deactivate access point mode manually. - Download the ViCare app directly from Google Play or the iOS App Store and register as a new user under “Create new account”. Follow the instructions in the app.
- Scan the QR code supplied with the Vitoconnect (see example illustration below) with your mobile phone or tablet so that the Vitoconnect can be assigned to your account.
However, you can also register the vitoconnect manually using the manufacturer data and the ID. - Depending on the operating system of your smartphone, the Wi-Fi of the Vitoconnect is now set up:
- for Android devices: The connection is established automatically.
- for iOS devices: Close the app and open the device settings. Establish the connection to the Vitoconnect Wi-Fi manually and paste the WPA2 password automatically copied to the clipboard. You can now switch back to the app.
- Now connect the Vitoconnect to your home network: Select your Wi-Fi network from the list and then enter your Wi-Fi password. After entering the correct password, the LED at the top of the Vitoconnect should light up white. This process can take up to 5 minutes. This LED indicates the connection to the WLAN network and then lights up white permanently if the system is working.
- Finally, please follow the further instructions in the app: You will be asked for the location of your system and your personal data and asked to accept the data protection and terms of use.
The Vitoconnect is now registered and you can control your Viessmann heating system via the ViCare app.
